CLEP (College Level Examination Program)

Shorten Your Path to a College Degree!

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) gives you the opportunity to earn college credit! You may earn credit on one or more of the 35 CLEP subject examinations by earning a qualifying score as determined by the American Council on Education (ACE) or by the institution receiving your score(s). Note: Prior to testing, the test taker needs to know his/her institution's acceptance policy and passing score requirements. CLEP exams are administered via computer.

Testing Schedules

Please Note: Exams are filled on a first-come first-served basis.

Candidates need 2 forms of government issued photo ID on the day of the exam. Cell phones and/or beepers are not allowed into the exam room.

All CLEP tests take place in Feinberg Library Room 129.

Fees and Registration

FEES: Each fee is paid separately.

$55.00: Test Administration Fee (payable by money order only to Plattsburgh State)

$65.00: CLEP Exam FEE (payable by credit card on the day of your exam OR by check/money order with your registration materials).

Note: For tests administered after July 1, 2008, the CLEP Exam fee will increase to $70.

IMPORTANT:
If you are interested in taking a CLEP exam, we encourage you to register TWO WEEKS prior to the CLEP test date. Exams are filled on a first come first served basis.

The SUNY Plattsburgh test center uses a unique registration form. Please download from the link above or contact the Academic Advising Office: (518) 564-2080.

To Register: send a completed registration form and a test administration fee of $55 (payable by money order only to Plattsburgh State) to the Academic Advising Office (full address found below).

Personal checks, cash, or credit cards will not be accepted. Note: this fee is nonrefundable.

The $65 ($70 for tests administered after July 1, 2008) CLEP exam fee may be paid by credit card on the day of your exam (VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, or AMEX). Corporate credit cards, check or money order (payable to "CLEP") should be mailed with the registration form and separate test administration fee. CLEP does NOT accept cash.

You may not sit for a CLEP exam until all fees (nonrefundable test administration fee and CLEP test fee) have been paid.

Changes/Cancellation

Registered test takers may change a scheduled exam date only once. This change must take place at least 3 business days before the originally schedule exam date. Candidates who change a scheduled exam date must pay a $15.00 rescheduling fee (payable by money order only to "Plattsburgh State."

Test candidates who cancel, or who do not attend a registered exam, will not be refunded for the test administration fee. These individuals may register for a CLEP Exam again at a future date, and will be required to pay the test administration fee again.

The test administration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.
