The Adirondack/Lake Champlain region offers a wealth of recreational opportunities and is home to expert, knowledgeable, professionals who can guide and instruct you, and direct you to places and resources. This directory is our contribution to bringing some of these resources together:
Adventure Education

Sports & Recreation
- Adirondack Backcountry Skiing - Offers backcountry recreational and educational resources for the skiing community. It posts current skiing conditions, upcoming events and a helpful local ski mountaineering guide.
- Adirondack International Mountain Fest - Adirondack International Mountainfest is an annual climbing meet bringing international climbers, guides, and instruction to the Adirondacks.
- Adirondack Mountain Club - The oldest recreation, conservation, and advocacy group for the Adirondacks.
- Adirondack Mountain School - Private Guiding and Instruction in rock and ice climbing and backcountry skiing by Plattsburgh State faculty member Jesse Williams.

- Gore Mountain - New York State owned ski area, located in North Cree, an hour and a half from Plattsburgh.
- Lake Placid On-Line - Check out the virtual tours of skiing at Whiteface, a walk around Mirror Lake, a hike up Hurricane Mountain, or a visit to Santa's Workshop at North Pole, New York.
- Mountain Aid Training International (M.A.T.I.) - Wilderness medicine instruction offered by a team of active adventurers trained as doctors and EMTs.
