Clintonville Forge Site Map - Location of the Foundation Wall

Field Notes:

Exposure of the exterior of the south wall of the forge building near the eastern end.

A 1 1/2 ft. thick, dense layer of charcoal residue was found here, beginning 2 1/2 ft. below the top of the remaining wall. 

This suggests that a charcoal shed once existed at this spot, probably like the one found near the center of the building's exterior.
