Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Canadian Studies (30 credits)
The Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Canadian Studies requires 30 credits of Canadian content courses. Students can select from the greatest number and variety of Canadian content courses available at any university in the United States.
The unique strength of the program is its multidisciplinary foundation and course work. Students acquire a sensitivity to and an understanding of Canada's historical, geographical, political, business and economic, and cultural character. Students begin by taking CAS 111 "Introduction to Canada." Majors then complete the program by taking courses in geographic, historical, political, economic/business, cultural, social, and Quebec foundations. The bilingual character (English and French) of Canada requires students take at least 3 credit hours in French. Many of the Canadian content courses are part of the General Education program at Plattsburgh State.
The student has the option of satisfying some of these requirements by taking appropriate Canadian courses by studying abroad at a Canadian/Quebec university.
