- About Plattsburgh
We have a very active chapter of the National Speech Language Hearing Association. This student organization provides an opportunity for all interested students to learn more about communication disorders, to better get to know their fellow students and the faculty, and to contribute to the professions of speech pathology and audiology by volunteering in the department and in the community. Some of the typical NSSLHA activities include volunteering at Special Olympics, participating in fundraisers for autism, Alzheimer’s disease and other national charitable organizations. Guest speakers are often invited to the NSSLHA meetings so students can interact and learn from individuals who practice our professions in the community. We also often have activities that students enjoy, such as picnics, bonfires, and pizza parties, and these activities foster student and faculty interaction.
For additional information about the local chapter and coming events, contact the NSSLHA advisor, Dr. Suzanne Hungerford.
