The Digital Media Lab consists of both PC- and Mac-based workstations for students enrolled in the digital media production major. They use these workstations to complete various digital media production projects.
The projects include building web sites, transferring and editing digital videos, crafting/sweetening audio soundtracks, creating animations, animating title/text sequences, creating CD and DVD's, crafting characters for virtual worlds, and incorporating animations into live action video.
To accomplish these tasks students have access to various software packages that includes Dreamweaver, Flash, In-Design, Fireworks, Illustrator, Freehand, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Roxio Suite, Mediaface, Acid, Soundforge, Vegas 6, Vegas Moviestudio, Micrographics Simply 3D, ToonBoom, Canon Spin Panorama, DV GatePlus, PictureGear Studio, Audition, Boris, DVD Architect, Windows Moviemaker, Final Cut Pro HD, iMovie, Garage Band, Soundtrack, Motion, DVD Studio Pro, and others.
As well, many external devices are available to assist with digital media project completion including scanners, printers, video transfer decks (for VHS, DVD, and mini-DVs), tripods, lighting kits, and different types of digital video cameras (for both still- and motion-capture images).
The Digital Media Lab is located in the lower level of the western wing in the Yokum Communications Lecture Hall building next to the Audio Lab facilities.
