Media & Technology Facilities
The Communication Department operates in Yokum Communication Lecture Hall. There you will find extensive opportunities for students to develop technical capabilities--such as on-camera performance or behind-the-scenes production expertise. Students have the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they've learned through practical experience at one of the onsite broadcast stations (see our TV, Radio, & Media Outlets ).

A student-staffed cable television channel (PSTV) broadcasts a wide variety of programming every night. Student-produced programs range from live sports broadcasts to music video shows to live call-in shows to nightly news briefs.

|
A variety of video editing suites give students the opportunity to practice and hone their production skills. This includes the use of AVID non-linear editing systems as well as traditional non-linear equipment for television editing and production.

Two student-operated campus radio stations (WQKE & WARP) air a host of music and talk formats throughout the year. Yokum's Audio Laboratories provides recording booths with analog and digital production equipment. Beginning and advanced audio students have access to MiniDisc, flash & hard-disk recorders, and Digital Audio Workstations (equipped with Adobe Audition) to complete their projects. There's also a Digital Media Lab that offers access to both PC & Mac platforms, and the ability to sweeten audio for video, produce indie-style film shorts, or even create broadcast-quality animations. Students have access to Vegas Video, the Macromedia & Adobe Creative Suites, Final Cut Pro, and more.
