Outer Lab

Digital Audio Workstations and Audio Library Network

The outer lab DAW's (digital audio workstations) are used for a number of different activities that include quick audio transfers and edits--to more elaborate multitrack mixdowns (that don't require voice-capture facilities).

Use Our Extensive Sound Library or Create Your Own

You can process audio on any of the available workstations using Adobe Audition and have access to files on the department's Audio Library Network. This closed network offers audio and video production students access to over 3,000 licensed music files as well as more than 4,000 licensed sound effect files (more than is available at many radio and TV stations).

In addition, various field recording equipment is available (on a sign-out basis) to support the completion of specific audio-video course projects. This includes cassette recorders, digital recorders, flash recorders, various types of microphones and accessories, fishpole booms, perambulator booms, and field mixers.
