Meet our Counselor Education Students
Wendy Lehman
"The School Counseling program at Plattsburgh State is a momentous journey. Each student ultimately follows an individual path, but all are united by a sense of discovery, and interconnected throughout the learning process. The outstanding faculty exemplifies counselor qualities such as insight, encouragement, and professionalism. Learning seems to be achieved with one's whole being."
Candace Mallernee
Candace is from Peru, NY and is currently earning her master's in community counseling.
"The Counselor Education Program, students, and faculty are a small community in and of itself. Each person within the program, whether it is faculty or students, brings to the program their own personal strengths, and in turn helps to bring out the strengths of others around them. The professors are knowledgeable, caring, and devoted to their profession and to their students. It is compassion like this that has helped me to finish my higher education despite the roadblocks that life has thrown in my way."
Jennifer Mattimore
Jennifer is from Buffalo, NY and is currently earning her master's in school counseling.
"When starting my research for a counseling program, I found that SUNY Plattsburgh's Counselor Education program fit all my needs. I have had the opportunity to present at national conferences, take a wide variety of challenging courses, and gain valuable hands-on experience during my practicum and internship. Not only am I getting the best education possible to prepare me for a career as a school counselor, but I also feel a great deal of support from the faculty and my peers."
