Teacher Education Program Transfer Information

Requirements

Overall GPA Entrance Requirement

A minimum overall GPA of 2.5 for A.A./A.S. degree is required.

Requirements for Majors and Concentrations

It is recommended to complete as much of the concentration as possible during the associate degree program. For information on concentration requirements, consult the SUNY Plattsburgh websites listed below and the SUNY Transfer Template website.

Majors and Concentrations for Students in Teacher Preparation Programs
Childhood/Early Childhood Education

Concentrations in Art, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, English, French, Mathematics, Music, Social Studies and Spanish are offered. Please visit Childhood Education for more information.

Special/Childhood Education

Concentrations in Art, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, English, French, Mathematics, Music, Social Studies and Spanish are offered. Please visit Special Education for more information.

Adolescence Education

Content majors in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, English, French, Mathematics, Physics, Social Studies, Spanish are offered. Please visit Adolescence Education for more information.

Other Application Requirements

Candidates seeking admission into the professional education programs must have submitted passing scores on the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) prior to enrolling in EDU330 - Exploring Educational Issues Through Writing. EDU330, in turn, is a prerequisite to entering the initial course in each education program. Information on the PPST exam can be found at: http://www.ets.org/praxis

Specific Curriculum Comments

A year sequence in a foreign language, or it's equivalent, should be completed as part of the associate degree. All students should enroll with two courses in mathematics.
