- About Plattsburgh
Jenna Garrand is from Champlain & Mooers Forks, New York, and transferred to Plattsburgh State after earning her associate's degree from Clinton Community College in Business Administration. During her first year at Plattsburgh, Jenna studied abroad in Australia at Bond University. She was awarded an internship with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) on campus, and she is the recipient of the first Carrolls-Rogers Family Foundation Scholarship in Entrepreneurship.
"I recommend Study Abroad to every student because it's an experience that every college student should have! It opens your eyes and exposes you to different cultures, different traditions, and different ways that people live. I realize what's out there now and, as a result, I have caught the 'travel bug.'
In my internship at the SBDC, I gained so much knowledge that I had not learned in my classes. In addition, having the opportunity to participate in client meetings in my internship offered me the chance to apply my knowledge from my classes to a business setting. Working with professionals who were mentors to me was extremely valuable!
I will be doing another internship during my last semester from my minor in Personal Training. Both internships are preparing me for my goal of owning my own fitness gym in the future!"
Jennifer Fidell is from Dansville, New York, and entered the Entrepreneurship Program at Plattsburgh State after earning her A.S. degree from Finger Lakes Community College. She held a very responsible position as an intern with Cedar Knoll Log homes and was hired by the firm, which was highly satisfied with her performance.
"I believe that the best preparation for any student interested in owning a business or managing a business is the Entrepreneurship program at SUNY Plattsburgh! The Entrepreneurship Program prepares you to enter the world of business knowledgeably and confidently. In my view, a knowledgeable person is a powerful person."
