Everyone working in the outdoors understands that there are two requirements for advancing in the profession: experience and knowledge. Earn a master’s degree in our expeditionary studies program and you’ll get both — and so much more.

  • Of the 11 courses, six are online, allowing you to live anywhere while you complete course requirements
  • Capstone courses are independently led expeditions, designed to fit around your schedule

Master of Science (M.S.) in Expeditionary Studies (37 credits)

Admission Requirements

General admission criteria include a completed graduate study application, three recommendations, statement of purpose or intent, official transcripts, and submission of a Degree Completion Plan coincident within the first graduate EXP course. Additional requirements include:

  • An undergraduate GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • International certifications or equivalent in at least two adventure disciplines, by advisor approval
  • Current Wilderness First Responder certification

Admission Deadline: rolling admission, apply at least six weeks before the start of the fall, spring or summer semesters.
