Study Skills Handouts
Provided by the University of Central Florida's Student Academic Resource Center, this website is a clearinghouse of pdf's covering different strategies to help you succeed. Handouts are organized by topic: Concentration; Memory; Textbooks (reading strategies); Time Management; Test Prep; Goal Setting and Attitudes; Test Taking; Notetaking; Self-Testing; Study Skills and Diagnostics; Vocabulary; Miscellaneous; and MCLCW (Mastering College Level Course Work) handouts. The wide variety of strategies provided for each topic allow you to select the strategies that work best for you and your courses.
Quizlet.com
Quizzlet is an online study aid. Material entered into the Quizlet Flashcard generator can be studied in five modes: "Familiarize, " "Learn," "Test," "Scatter," and "Space Race" -- all of which are explained under the "Help & Features" tab. Through the "Find Flashcard" tab, you can search for pre-made electronic study aids. With the "Make Flashcards" tab, you can create your own electronic study aids to review course material.

- Free Online Accounting Basics Course - Simple Studies sponsors this website that includes lectures about, exercises on, and a glossary of basic Accounting Principles.
Biology
- Tips to Taking a Science Class - Dr. Charles Rodell of the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University guides you through some necessary skills for studying science.
- Biology Tutorial Program - The University of Wisconsin - Madison provides an overview of general strategies students can practice with their tutors. You can practice these very same strategies with our tutors too!
- A Guide to Writing in Biology - George Mason Univeristy's Biology Department created an easily accessible resource for writing in Biology. Remember to speak with your professor about your writing assignments first
- Biology Karoke - Having trouble remember all those stages and phases? Try setting them to music.
Communication Disorders & Sciences
- ASL Online Dictionary - Sponsored by Michigan State University, The American Sign Language Browser provides both an explanation for the sign and a visual. Requires Quicktime.
- Phonetics - The Reading Genie, Dr. Bruce Murray of Auburn University may focus on teaching reading, but his focus on phonetics provides memorable activities to help you learn graphemes, digraphs, phonemes, and blending.
- Brief Encyclopedia of Speech and Communication Disorders - The National Library of Medicine sponsored by the National Institutes of Health is a clearinghous of resources.
Chemistry
- Tips to Taking a Science Class - Dr. Charles Rodell of the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University guides you through some necessary skills for studying science.
- Academic Success Videos: Chemistry - Dartmouth University's Learning Strategies Videos includes a video review of strategies for studying Chemistry. Requires Quicktime.

- Musical Chemistry - Having trouble remembering all those equations and chemical reactions? Try setting them to music.

- Economics Help - Designed by British Economics instructor Tejvan Richard Pettinger, Economics Help provides a detailed discussion of key concepts in Economics, discussion of contemporary issues in Economics, and Revision Guides (Review Guides) available for downlaod as pdf documents.
- Economics of Development - Norton's site for its textbook, Economics of Development, provides sample exercises to apply key concepts and exam questions to self-test your understanding.
Finance
- Virtual Finance Library - Ohio State University's Virtual Finance Library is an award winning website that maintains key resources for Finance students, faculty, and businesspeople.
- Financial Glossary - There is much of value for a Finance Student on the Bloomberg site. Starting with their glossary will help you define everything from abandonment to Z-score and all the abbreviations in between.
French
- How to Study a Foreign Language - Texas Woman's University provides a sound guide to effective study strategies for your foreign language courses.
- French Language Guide - The Language Guide.org includes general information on French vocabulary and grammar and applies the lessons to sample readings.
- Pronunciation - Acapela's Interactive Demo allows you to type in up to 230 characters (must be in French or you hear English with a French accent) and select a voice.
- Understand France - Philippe and Harriet Welty Rochefort author the Franco-American Website, which compiles contemporary information on French culture and life from the perspective of a Franco (Philippe) - American (Harriet) couple.
German

- German Language Guide - The Language Guide.org includes general information on German vocabulary.

- Lernstrategien - The Unviersity of Michigan's website is a clearinghouse of information on studying and learning German including strategies for improving writing, reading, listening, and vobabulary. Please note that some of the information is tailored to Ann Arbor students, but the advice is still valuable.
Mathematics
- How to Study Math - Cuesta College's website provides basic strategies to math success. Pay particular attention to "How to Read a Math Textbook" -- yes there is reading in math!
- Overcoming Math Anxiety - Mission College's website guides you through the strategies to deal with Math Anxiety.
- Seven Math Myths - Need some positive thinking to overcome your Math Anxiety? Check out these seven math myths.
- Alegebra Help - The alegebrahelp.com website provides both lessons and practice worksheets in common alegebraic concepts.
- Calculus Help - Former teacher, W. Michael Kelley, compiled this interactive site to provide practice problems and multimedia tutorials.
- Math E-Books - Lamar University Math professor, Paul Dawkins, has digitized his lecture notes for Alegebra, Linear Algebra, three levels of Calculus, and Differential Equations. Although his site is not a replacement for attending class, it does review key concepts and provide additional resources through its Links feature.

- Feinberg Library - Our campus library provides resources for students as they navigate the research process. The link will take you to the library's main webpage.
- The Owl at Purdue - Purdue's OWL provides resources on many topics in writing and provide sample exercises to help practice.
- Prewriting Activities - Included in the Univeristy of St. Thomas's guide to the Seven Stages of Writing Assignments, Learning Support Specialist Joseph Frank Lansberger provides an online medium for you to brainstorm ideas before you begin writing or when you are not sure how to continue writing your essay. The electronic forms include Focused Freewrite, Mindmapping, Brainstorming, and Listing & Outling.
