Performing Ensembles at Plattsburgh State
Students interested in participating in music at Plattsburgh State have many opportunities. Participation in these ensembles for credit is not restricted to students who have chosen music as a program of study - all students are invited to participate.
Cardinal Singers
Select chamber choral group that performs a wide range of repertory, including classical and popular a cappella, as well as accompanied chamber works. Performs frequently on- and off-campus. Visit the Cardinal Singer's web page for more information.

Choral Union
Large mixed chorus that blends qualified college students with the Champlain Valley Oratorio Society, a community chorus, specializing in the major choral-orchestral works.

College Chorale
Traditional large mixed chorus. Repertory includes works with instrumental accompaniment, as well as a cappella pieces. Chorale hosts the Music Department's annual Choral Fest. Guest artists have included Joseph Huszti and Ellington Voices in Motion. Visit the College Chorale's web page for more information.

Jazz Ensemble
Big band that specializes in the best of blues, jazz, and Latin jazz. Performs at a variety of on- and off-campus events. Combos selected from within the band. Hosts annual Jazz Festival. Guest artists have included Randy Brecker, JoAnne Brackeen, and Bobby Shew.

Sinfonia
Chamber string ensemble, occasionally performs with wind instrumentalists. The group is dedicated to the development of individual and group musicianship. String quartet selected from within the group.

Symphonic Band
Concert band performing a wide variety of traditional and new music for winds and percussion. Students develop reading and ensemble skills and technical understanding of the music, and gain insight into composers and their works. Performances often feature guest and faculty soloists.

Chamber Ensembles at Plattsburgh State
Small ensembles for students with prior experience in woodwind, brass, string and percussion instruments or voice. Chamber groups allow students to create music in a setting with fewer players and greater individual responsibility. Students register for most of these ensembles concurrently with a larger ensemble.

Other Performance Groups
Gospel Choir
A Student Association club. Dr. Dexter Criss is the faculty advisor (chemistry dept.) and Ms. Sally Urban is the staff advisor. Visit Gospel Choir website .
Minor Adjustments
A student directed a cappella group. They have recently released their first CD which can be purchased in the Music Office for $10.
Musicals
Usually produced every second year in association with the Theatre Program at Plattsburgh State.
Performance in Community Groups
Including the Plattsburgh Community Orchestra, the Adirondack Wind Ensemble and the Champlain Valley Oratorio Society.
PRISM Concerts
Exciting performances with the audience seated in the round and surrounded by the performing groups. PRISM Concerts attract standing-room-only crowds that continue to express their enjoyment of this unique performance.
