Natural Science Program at SUNY Plattsburgh
Study at the Center of a Huge Outdoor Laboratory
Become a professional scientist who has the commitment, knowledge, skills, and self-awareness to be a leader in your field of study. The master's in natural science offers three concentration areas: biology, chemistry and environmental science. You can advance your career, qualify for certification in childhood and adolescence education, or continue your pre-med studies.
One of the biggest assets to this program is our location. We're in a place that makes it very easy for you to ask all kinds of research questions in a wide array of fields. We are at the door step of a six million acre park that is essentially a research laboratory. And we are on the shores on the shores of a 490 square mile lake and that, too, can provide numerous opportunities for research.
Being close to Canada, especially cosmopolitan Montreal, adds a distinct international dimension to your experience. Easy access to arts and entertainment locally, in Burlington, Vermont, and in Montreal make living in the region unique, active and fulfilling. These geographic advantages augment Plattsburgh's welcoming and supportive campus community.
Work with Faculty That Are Active in Research
Current faculty research includes biochemistry, botany, chemistry, ecology, environmental science, genetics, and other areas. The program is supported by course work in three departments and administered by the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. You will have a three member faculty committee to guide your program with a primary faculty advisor from that committee.
