Clinical Sites

Students at Plattsburgh State participate in a variety of clinical opportunities. The clinical rotations are designed to provide a wide range of experiences.

CVPH Medical Center

The majority of our hospital experience is gained at CVPH Medical Center. CVPH is committed to advancing and supporting clinical practice excellence. In accordance with that commitment, the hospital promotes an environment conducive to professional growth and learning.

The nursing staff at CVPH values the ability to use expert knowledge, skills and judgment in the delivery of patient care. The hospital offers a wide variety of clinical settings to our students so that they develop their talents in providing care. As with most large medical centers, the spectrum of patient care needs includes inpatient and outpatient services addressing acute, episodic and chronic health issues.

In order to create a supportive environment in which nurses may delivery quality patient care, the Patient Services Division provides clinical leadership and supervision of staff, offers opportunities for continuing education, sets standards of care and defines expectations for practice.

The delivery of patient care is accomplished with the assistance of a variety of nursing personnel in collaboration with members of the medical staff and support departments. Team nursing, total patient care, primary nursing and case management are utilized as methods of care delivery depending on the clinical setting.

Clinton County Health Department

Students gain a community perspective through work at the Clinton County Health Department. Students provide care to individuals and families in the patient's home. Students also work at health clinics to provide wellness care to adults and children in the community. The nursing staff are supportive of student goals and are open to sharing their expertise in this growing field of nursing.
