Mrs. Wells received a nursing diploma at Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital Medical Center, Plattsburgh, New York. She practiced primarily in pediatrics for the first six years of nursing in Columbia, Missouri, at the Medical Center of Missouri and also at Boone County Hospital. Eventually she and her family moved back to Plattsburgh, New York, and there she completed her baccalaureate in nursing. She then received her Masters in Nursing Education at SUNY Binghamton. Her clinical specialty is adult health (medical-surgical), however, she still is very interested in pediatrics. Currently, she teaches maternal-child health, pharmacology and health assessment.
