Award for Academic Excellence in Psychology
Purpose: This award recognizes senior-level Psychology students who have demonstrated superior academic achievement in Psychology.
Eligibility and Criteria
- Full-time or part-time matriculated students completing their senior year who are majoring in Psychology
- A minimum GPA of 3.9 in Psychology
Deadline: March 7, 2008.
Outstanding Psychology Student Award
Purpose: This award recognizes junior and senior level Psychology Students who have demonstrated excellence in academics as well as commitment to the discipline through participation in activities that enhance the field of Psychology.
Eligibility and Criteria
- Full-time or part-time matriculated students entering junior or senior year who are majoring in Psychology
- A minimum GPA of 3.5
- Evidence of scholarship and/or involvement with the discipline
- Faculty or staff nomination in writing (to the attention of the Chairperson of the Psychology Awards Committee)
Deadline: March 7, 2008.
Joan W. LeClair Memorial Scholarship
Purpose: This is a $250 scholarship to honor the memory of Joan W. LeClair, a caring, sensitive, and loving woman who valued education and encouraged her children and grandchildren to achieve their goals and to strive for excellence in all their endeavors. She believed that attributes such as character and integrity were as important as academic excellence. This scholarship will recognize and encourage those students whose involvement and accomplishments in college deserve recognition.
Eligibility and Criteria
- Full-time matriculated students entering junior or senior year who are majoring in Psychology, or graduate students in the School Psychology graduate program
- Strong academic achievement, leadership, and character
- Faculty or staff nomination in writing (to the attention of the Chairperson of the Psychology Awards Committee)
Deadline: March 7, 2008.
Redcay Research Apprenticeship Award
Purpose: A Research Apprenticeship carries a stipend of $500, and in addition provides support for costs of the proposed research. The apprenticeship program is designed to foster productive student/faculty collaboration in scholarly endeavors.
Eligibility and Criteria
- Application for a Redcay Research Apprenticeship must be made by a student in conjunction with a faculty sponsor.
- The student should submit a letter of application along with a proposal for a specific empirical research project focused on an issue relevant to the Behavioral Sciences, the work in the student's discipline, and contain a detailed budget including appropriate justification for expenditures. The proposal should also address the nature of the student-faculty collaboration within which the project will be implemented.

Redcay Ad Hoc Grants for students
Purpose: Ad hoc grants of $300 are available to support student research projects and/or the reporting of research results.
Eligibility and Criteria
- The student should submit a letter of application clearly stating the research problem, the methods by which the research is to be approached, and the expense that the research will generate.
Deadline: Rolling application
Redcay Outstanding Student Scholarships
Purpose: The scholarship carries a stipend of $250. It is awarded to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors and is designed to reward and stimulate excellence in the behavioral sciences.
Eligibility and Criteria
- Full-time students with freshman, sophomore, or junior status and a declared major in the behavioral sciences
- Faculty nomination in writing (to the attention of the Chair of the Committee on Redcay Awards for Student/Faculty Collaboration in the Behavioral Sciences ("Redcay Committee"))
- Additional supporting materials, such as the student's transcript, additional letters of recommendation, and examples of the student's work
Deadline: April 1
Redcay Senior Award
Purpose: Awarded during the semester in which the student graduates, the Redcay Senior Award recognizes outstanding performance in scholarship and academics throughout a student's undergraduate career, and carries a monetary award of $400.
Eligibility and Criteria
- Materials documenting the student's outstanding accomplishments in the Behavioral Sciences.
- Faculty nomination in writing (to the Chair of the Redcay Committee.)
Deadline: November 18 (Winter graduates) and April 1 (Spring graduates)
