Why Middlebury in Chile?

Middlebury College has an outstanding reputation and longstanding tradition in foreign language education and study abroad. Their programs in Chile are designed for students who are mature, independent, already highly proficient in the Spanish language and who wish to be become fully bilingual through a true immersion experience. You have the option of enrolling in nine different Chilean universities where you will be taking normal university courses alongside native students. You may find a list of the nine universities on Middlebury's website.

How to Apply

You must submit both the SUNY Application and the Middlebury Application to the SUNY Plattsburgh Global Education Office by the deadlines stated in the above section. Note that there are two application fees: a $35 one payable to SUNY Plattsburgh and a $55 one payable to Middlebury College. Make out both fees accordingly and forward both to SUNY Plattsburgh by the deadline. Please e-mail us for copies at globaleducation@plattsburgh.edu. Please visit Middlebury's website for links to the universities to which you may apply and course information. Unfortunately, the host institutions post limited information about their courses online. You may wish to contact Middlebury to see if they might have print materials to send to you.

Accommodations

In general, you have several housing options from which you can choose, though not every option may be available at every institution in Chile. Middlebury can arrange for rental of a room in a family home, an apartment, or in student residential housing. The costs generally ranging from $500 to $600 a month. Meals may or may not be included, but kitchen facilities will be available for your own food preparation when they are not. You can also find restaurant meals at modest prices.

Please note: You will pay your Application Fee, Deposit, SUNY tuition, Semester Abroad Fee and Health Insurance to SUNY before you leave.You will pay for your housing and food in Chile.
