Why Guadalajara?
The Universidad de Guadalajara (UG) semester exchange program is a good choice if you are already fluent in Spanish, but are still seeking a real cultural immersion experience. On this program, you will enroll directly into UG courses with mostly Mexican students, taught by mostly Mexican professors. All courses are taught at the native level, and UG does not offer courses in English. UG has six centers, organized by subject area taught, and you will choose one of them to attend. The direct enrollment into the UG system and its location in Guadalajara, one of Mexico's largest and most cultural cities, makes this exchange an opportunity to experience the real Mexico alongside its peoples.

Courses at Guadalajara
Typically, you take at least four and no more than five courses at UG. As noted above, UG is divided up into several centers according to academic focus (i.e. business, computer science, humanities). You cannot take courses between centers, and will be based at only one. UG does not list its course offerings and descriptions online. Please e-mail the Global Education Office for a list of courses, and be sure to tell us your major!!
Accommodations
At UG, you will be able to live with either a host family to whom you will pay room and board or in a UG owned guesthouse for international students. Neither option is guaranteed, and you are advised to have your application to SUNY Plattsburgh complete and submitted by the deadline for the best chances of receiving your first choice. For more information on both options, including cost estimates, please visit UG'swebsite.
