Graduate Assistantship in the Division of Education, Health, and Human Services
Position reports to the EHHS Assessment/Data Manager The position provides a tuition scholarship (limited to $6,900) and a stipend of $5,320 for the 2008-09 academic year. It requires a 20-hour-per-week commitment.
(Note: This position is to be filled for the 2008-09 academic year)
Responsibilities:
- Assist with Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) inquiry activities, data collection, library research, document development, and statistical analysis;
- Perform data collection activities, library research, statistical analysis, and report write-ups for a variety of surveys, including, but not limited to, Alumni Surveys, Employer Surveys, Candidate Self-Evaluations, Supervisor Final Evaluations, Professional Development Educator Evaluations, Teacher and Principal Surveys;
- Assist with statistical analyses of SAT/ACT, Pre-Professional Skills Test - PPST (PRAXIS I), New York State Teacher Certification (NYSTCE) Liberal Arts and Sciences Test (LAST), Assessment of Teaching Skills - Written (ATS-W), Content Specialty Test (CST), University GPA, and other assessment measures;
- Assist with Education Unit presentation development (emphasis on data compilation and analysis, as well as development of data based figures and tables, charts, graphs);
- Assist with coordinative data related activities in working with area schools;
- Assist with data components of grant assessment and evaluation activities;
- Prepare appropriate forms and provide relevant data for Applications to the Committee on the Protection of Human Subjects;
- Assist with Education Unit data collection and statistical analyses regarding Education Unit Programs and outcomes;
- Assist with other data collection, statistical analyses, and report write-ups of other key Educational Unit initiatives and assessments as requested.
Qualifications:
- Matriculated graduate student at Plattsburgh State University of New York;
- In good academic standing (minimum 3.0 GPA);
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft , PowerPoint, the Internet, as well as e-mail;
- Knowledge of, or a willingness to learn, computer skills in SPSS (the data analysis software);
- Possesses Knowledge of research design, data entry and analysis, and research processes;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
- Skilled in English grammar, punctuation, and document formatting;
- Committed to confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity;
- Possesses strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to attend to details; and
- Demonstrated strong ability to work independently on assigned projects and initiatives.
