To apply for a U.S. visa, you would need the following documents:
1. Valid passport (for at least six months)
2. Original letter of acceptance/admission issued by SUNY Plattsburgh
3. Original SEVIS I-20 form issued by SUNY Plattsburgh
4. SEVIS fee receipt (form I-797) (Find out how to pay SEVIS fee)

6. Copies of the TOEFL or IELTS score
7. Proof of ties to your home country (Please read 10 Points to remember when applying for an F-1 or J-1 visa)
Step 2: Pay Your Deposit
After you are accepted, you have until May 1 or thirty days after your acceptance (whichever is later) to pay your $150 deposit. To do this online, follow the instructions below.
1. Log in to Banner Web using the Plattsburgh NetID and password provided in your acceptance letter.
2. Once you log in, click "Tuition Deposit Payment"
Step 3: Submit a Housing Request
Once you have paid your deposit, you can also reserve on-campus housing online using Banner Web. However, it will take at least 48 hours for your deposit to get through the many computer systems at SUNY Plattsburgh, so wait at least two days before attempting to reserve your on-campus housing. Here's how:
1. Click on "Student Menu"
2. Click on "Housing & Residential Life"
3. Click on "Housing Questionnaire"
On-campus housing is compulsory for the first two years. If you are 21 or older, you may request permission to live off-campus. If you move off-campus, you will lose the "International Campus Community Award", which is part of your financial aid package. Housing assignments for the fall semester are made in July, and for the spring semester in mid-January. The Housing and Residence Life office will notify you by email as soon as they assign you a room.
Step 4: Make Travel Arrangements
Read the information on our Travel to the U.S. page. You should arrive on campus no later than the Monday before classes begin for your first semester of enrollment. Please refer to the Academic Calendar to determine the correct date. If you have to arrive more than three days before international student orientation begins, you must stay at your own expense at one of the local hotels.
Step 5: Complete and Submit Health Form and Immunization Records
Download the International Health Form and fill it out with the help of your physician. Send the completed form and the immunization records to the address at the bottom of the form.
Step 6: Fill out the Arrival Information Form
As soon as your travel plans are confirmed, fill out the Arrival Information Form. To find out how to get to Plattsburgh, refer to our Traveling to the U.S. page. We do not pick up students from New York, Boston, or Montreal. We provide free transportation from the Plattsburgh airport, bus station, and train terminals to campus.
