Meet Our International Students

Hometown: Goiania, Brazil Major: International Business & Economics/Finance Major Coming to SUNY Plattsburgh was certainly a cost-benefit maximizing decision. I am able to have access to great quality education at an affordable price. Additionally, the close-knitted campus community allows students to engage in a variety of group activities thus drawing together people of similar tastes and interests. Diversity among the student body has certainly played a big role in my overall experience at Plattsburgh. Sometimes I even brag about being able to have lunch with students from a tiny island in the Caribbean and dinner with friends from all over Asia. This diversity somewhat makes me feel like I am living in the United Nation's headquarters in New York City. |

Coming to the tranquility of the city of Plattsburgh from such a busy city as Tokyo has and will always have a lasting impact on me. Before coming here, I never anticipated that kind of diversity that I am presently experiencing. This has given me a new international perspective that I think is the genesis of University education. It also made it much easier for me to adapt to the school community. What is also peculiar about the education that I am presently pursuing is the opportunity to get involved in school activities be it social events or otherwise. I can personally attest to the benefits of studying in an environment where every day I learn more, be it learning about the culture of the Caribbean countries or learning about the jungles of Africa. The entire college community is a laboratory of knowledge. I have so far enjoyed my time in here tremendously, and I can only hope as I go down the long stretch home to graduation that the future looks a lot brighter because I was a student at SUNY Plattsburgh. |
