Hi! I'm Erin Peters. As an Admissions Advisor at SUNY Plattsburgh, I coordinate the application review for students who seek readmission/reinstatement to the college, recruitment initiatives for out-of-state students and the e-communications program. My primary recruitment area is the Mid-Hudson, including Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, Sullivan and Ulster counties. Professional/Personal Biography: In 2001, I graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a B.A. degree in Sociology , with minors in Psychology and Spanish . I loved Plattsburgh so much that I stayed for another year and in 2002 earned my M.A. degree in Liberal Studies : Administration and Leadership. Following my graduate year, I spent two years working at a small community college in athletics and student affairs, and the next two years in communications and events for a local chamber of commerce. I am thrilled to be back at SUNY Plattsburgh and to be able to share its appeal with you. When not on campus, you'll likely find me cycling, running, hiking, camping, skiing, or canoeing with my husband Steve near our home in the Adirondacks.
Most Memorable College Experience: My participation as a four-year intercollegiate athlete on the indoor and outdoor track and field teams. As a student-athlete, I learned life lessons and interpersonal skills that were later essential in shaping my character as a professional.
Favorite Plattsburgh State Activity: Any of the programs offered by the Student Association - from music and comedy to lectures and presentations, they're always new, exciting and different.
Best advice you received regarding college or would give someone entering college: College is about choices. By embracing Plattsburgh's unique opportunities, you will broaden your experiences. Take full advantage of the resources available through the various offices and organizations on campus - you'll quickly find yourself meeting new people and enjoying all the perks that college life has to offer!
