Men's Ice Hockey
Success at the highest level is expected in Cardinal Country. The Plattsburgh State Men's Ice Hockey team's tradition of success is well documented and well known throughout the hockey world. The team has competed in the NCAA Tournament 16 times since the team started in 1975, advanced to the Final Four 12 times and won two National Championships (1992, 2001).

Women's Ice Hockey
One of the newest sports in Cardinal Country, the Plattsburgh State Women's Ice Hockey team established itself immediately as a national contender, finishing their inaugural season (2001-02) ranked among the top 10 teams nationally. The Cardinals play in one of the finest hockey facilities in the nation, the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena, in a town where ice hockey is followed with a passion.
