Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse

The Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse opened its doors in 1972 when it served as host of the World University Games for the first event ever held in the building. In 1976, the Fieldhouse was the training site of the U.S. Olympic teams before they went north to the Montreal Summer Games for competition, and President Gerald Ford was a distinguished guest during the athletes' visit.

The facility also houses the 3,500-seat Stafford Ice Arena for Cardinal hockey teams , varsity team rooms, administrative and coaches offices, a basketball court and indoor track. A modern sports medicine area for the evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries is located within the facility. The lobby contains a concessions area, vending machines, the Cardinal Men's Hockey Wall of All-Americans and a trophy case.

The Fieldhouse is also home to the popular Plattsburgh Spring Show featuring arts and crafts from regional vendors and sectional/regional high school basketball tournaments in February. The Fieldhouse is also used by Cardinal baseball , softball , lacrosse and track teams for practice during inclement weather.
