American Red Cross Programs at Plattsburgh State

The Department of Sport & Wellness offers a variety of American Red Cross programs.

The non-credit CPR/AED and First Aid program is funded by the Student Association and is only open to Plattsburgh State students, faculty and staff. This program provides for Adult/Child/Infant CPR,  First Aid and AED training and opportunities to renew certifications in Adult/Child /Infant CPR/AED and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer for campus participants who need certification for their employment or personal needs.

The Youth Learn to Swim and Waterfront Lifeguard Training programs are open to the college community and the general public. The Learn to Swim nine-week program is structured to improve the swimming skill of children. The Waterfront Lifeguard training program is a 40-hour course that upon successful completion will certify the participant in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer/AED and Waterfront that will qualify the participant to seek employment at either a pool or a beach site.

The CPR /First Aid/AED instructor course is open only to Plattsburgh State students. The 20-hour non-credit course is offered each fall and spring to students who will work for the CPR program at SUNY Plattsburgh.
