Getting Started
Please begin by completing our online Tour Request Form or by contacting Darlene Strack at telephone (518) 564-5199 or e-mail strackds@plattsburgh.edu.
Tours generally take 30 minutes. Visitors are asked to comply with library guidelines.
Tour Guides are trained student associates. When appropriate, librarians may be scheduled to conduct a tour.
Tours for Plattsburgh State Groups
For a general tour of the library
Please submit your request at least two weeks before the date of your visit. Complete the Tour Request Form or contact Darlene Strack, our circulation supervisor, at strackds@plattsburgh.edu (tel. 564-5199). She will schedule the tour and provide a guide. Tours start from the Service Desk by the second-floor entrance to the library.
For a class visit without a tour...
Faculty are asked to contact Tim Hartnett (hartnetc@plattsburgh.edu; 518-564-5205) so that Reference staff can be prepared.
For a Library Instruction Session
Faculty who would like a library instruction session for their class, covering specific library materials, are asked to fill out the Course-Related Instruction Request Form, or contact Elin O'Hara (oharaea@plattsburgh.edu; tel. 518-564-5187) at least two weeks in advance.
For a tour of Special Collections
Contact Debra Kimok (kimokdm@plattsburgh.edu; tel. 518-564-5206) at least two weeks in advance.
Guest Tours and Research Visits
We provide group tours for groups of visiting guests and researchers; however, these are available only during Plattsburgh State breaks and intercessions. Kindly submit your request at least two weeks in advance. Contact Darlene Strack at strackds@plattsburgh.edu (tel. 518-564-5199). She will schedule your tour and provide a guide. Tours start from the Service Desk by the second-floor entrance to the library. The size of the group may affect scheduling.
