How many items may I borrow?

Students may borrow up to 100 items.

Is there anything I can't borrow?

Reference materials (dictionaries, indexes, encyclopedias, etc.), Periodicals (journals, magazines, newspapers), some Government Documents and some Media Materials can only be used in the library. Materials from Special Collections are only to be used in Special collection and do not circulate.

Can I tell if an item is checked out?

Our online catalog provides all the information you need to locate an item and check its availability. To determine the availability of an item, click on the availability link. If an item is listed in the online catalog as available, but you are unable to find the item on the shelves, you should ask for assistance at the second level Service Desk. If the item indicates that it is loaned and you wish to be notified when it is returned, ask our staff to place the item on hold for you. When the item is returned, we will notify you of its availability and hold the item for up to 10 days.

What happens if I return an item late?

Late fees are automatically charged to patron accounts when items are returned. Late fees will revoke your borrowing privileges until the fine is paid and can possibly block your student Banner account. Late fees do not accumulate on days when the library is closed.

How much will I be charged for late fees?

How much will I be charged for a lost item?

It is expensive to lose library materials. Feinberg library charges your account a replacement and processing fee in addition to the cost to replace the book. The processing fee is $20 for each lost item.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept cash, check, money order, or credit card (MasterCard, Discover, and Visa) and Cardinal Cash. Dining dollars are not accepted as a form of payment at the library.

Can I return library materials when the Library is closed?

Is it possible to get a list of the items I have out on loan?

The staff at the second level Service desk can print a list of items on your account.

Who should I ask to speak to if I have a problem with my library account?

The staff at the second level Service desk can answer most questions about personal library accounts. Our service desks are often staffed by student employees who may refer you to supervising staff.
