Add the Library to your ANGEL Course: Creating Links to Full-Text Journal Articles In ANGEL or Faculty Web Sites
Do you want to include a link to a journal article from an ANGEL course site or your faculty web pages?
It's easy to do if you follow a couple of simple steps. If you've linked to web pages, you already know the ANGEL side of setting up the link.
The examples will show the steps in an ANGEL course page, but you can use the same technique on your faculty web pages.
Copying the correct link
Use the right URL! You'll need to use a persistent or stable URL--one that will be there for you and your students each time the ANGEL page is opened.
Of course, each database provides the persistent URL (or PURL) to you differently, so for each database, there will be an example showing where to find the PURL.
Database Examples
An example from a database of each vendor where Feinberg has full text licenses is shown below.
JSTOR Example
Step 1.
Step 2.

CAUTION: Want students to access article from off-campus?
Adding the prefix for the proxy server is essential in order to ensure access from off-campus. Copy the Persistent link, then add this proxy URL in front of the link.
Best practice: copy the link into Notepad, add the proxy prefix and copy and paste into ANGEL or a web page.
The proxy server prefix is http://webdb.outside.plattsburgh.edu:2048/login?url=
Your final link will look like this
http://webdb.outside.plattsburgh.edu:2048/login?url=http://links.jstor.org/sici?sici=0092-055X%28199901%2927%3A1%3C31%3ATTFEWW%3E2.0.CO%3B2-B
ProQuest Example
The field, Document URL, contains the persisitent URL in ProQuest databases.
