Accounting Collection Policies
Clientele:
The Accounting collection serves the needs of undergraduate Accounting students in the School of Business and Economics, and faculty in support of instruction. There are about 7 faculty members involved in teaching accounting.
Existing Collections:
Plattsburgh's Accounting collection includes current materials (less than 10 years old) in accounting, with an emphasis on reference materials, international accounting, general accounting and corporate information. Materials using a case-study approach have also been specifically collected. The major geographical focus is on U.S. accounting, but publications addressing NAFTA countries and the Southern Cone countries of South America are collected, with a minor focus on publications addressing accounting practices in the European Union, Russia, Asia and Eastern Europe.
Current Collecting:
Current collecting continues in the categories above, and we are seeking to strengthen the collection in the areas of ethics, computer-aided accounting, health care industry accounting, and international regulation and reporting. AACSB certification efforts may impact future collecting decisions.
