Existing Collections:
Plattsburgh's Art collection is currently a solid one for undergraduate art history support, with significant holdings in the areas of women's art and photography. It includes materials focusing on all periods from pre-historical to contemporary, and from all areas of the world. Both current and older (>10 years old) materials are owned. The collection also includes exhibition catalogs from major and some minor art exhibitions.
Current Collecting:
We currently collect materials in all of the above categories, with an emphasis on materials with strong visual content as examples and inspiration for students' studio work. Efforts are being made to correct perceived weaknesses in the areas of contemporary art/artists, contemporary photographers, ceramics and computer graphics. Exhibition catalogs are purchased whenever reviewed or cited.
