Computer Science Collections Policies
Clientele:
The Computer Science collection serves the needs of undergraduates in the department and in the General Education program, and faculty in support of instruction. There has been a decline in majors in recent years. About 7 faculty members are directly involved in Computer Science, teaching data structure and management via large computers and various programming languages. The following areas are also related to the collection: mathematics and business. Although not related to the Computer Science major, there is great interest in many areas of the campus in PC applications and software development.
Existing Collections:
Current English language materials with a global focus make up the collection. Materials are mainly theoretical rather than practical. Access to journal literature is provided through the ACM online database.
Current Collecting:
Collection continues in the above areas. If, in the future, the department moves toward an MIS graduate program, or if a computer literacy requirement is implemented, changes may be required, including strengthening the collection in the areas of PC's, internet languages, computer programs, administrative computing and net/sys applications and information.
Subjects Covered:
- LC class QA76
