Economics Collections Policies
Clientele:
The Economics collection serves the needs of undergraduates majoring in Economics, Business Economics, or Economics with a study option in Finance, and faculty in support of instruction. Some functions of previous agencies (TAC) are being supported by the academic department of economics. There are about 8 faculty members directly involved in teaching economics. The following areas are also related to the collection: International Business, Accounting, and Higher level statistical analysis.
Existing Collections:
Plattsburgh's Economics collection includes materials ranging in age, with sources older than 10 years being rare. Some Spanish (related to LAS) and French Canadian language materials are collected. The geographical coverage is broad, with major emphasis on the U.S., NAFTA countries, the Southern cone, and Latin America in general. Some collecting of materials related to the European Union, Eastern Europe, and Asia occurs. The collection is strong in the areas of anti-trust litigation, regional economics, NAFTA, and international economics.
Current Collecting:
We continue to collect in the above categories, with efforts to strengthen the collection in the areas of econometrics, Canadian investment, manufacturing and industrial location. Suggested future directions include regional economics, environmental economics, and forensic economics.
