Feinberg Library Interlibrary Loan Services (ILL)

ILL lets you borrow beyond Feinberg

Feinberg Library's Interlibrary Loan Service lets Plattsburgh State students, faculty (including emeriti), and staff borrow materials and copies of periodical articles that are not available at Feinberg Library (i.e., not owned, currently checked out, lost, missing, on order, etc.). ILL services are not available to Special Borrowers or those who owe library fines.

Getting Started with your ILL Request

Before submitting an ILL request, check to make sure the item you want is not available at Feinberg. For all materials except journal articles, first check PlattCAT. For journal articles, check here: Is a Journal Available Online?

ILL Request Steps:

  1. Go to Feinberg's Interlibrary Loan log-on page to set up your ILLiad account.
  2. Once you have created your account, your requests can be completed online. Please make sure the information is accurate. Use your Plattsburgh information for your local address and use your home address for the second address. You will be notified of ILL services by email, so make sure your email address is accurate.
  3. Remember to update your account whenever you experience a change of address or email address. When searching Feinberg Library's databases, you can take advantage of the Request ILL link from within the database to place your order. The information is automatically entered in the correct fields.
  4. For Branch Campus students and faculty - Be sure to identify yourself as a Branch campus user on each request form.

Renewing Materials

Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library. ILL staff processes renewal requests every business day, and will contact you if the renewal request is denied.

One renewal may be possible prior to the due date. Renewals can be done directly by you through your ILLiad account prior to the due date of the item.

Copyright/Fair Use Policies

Though ILL is intended to assist in the academic and professional development of our patrons, respect must be given to federal copyright law and national ILL policies. As such, Feinberg Library Interlibrary Loan services adheres to the American Library Associations guidelines for Interlibrary Loan Policies as well as provisions within federal copyright law. These policies and procedures are inherent and isolated to ILL and should not have any bearing on other library copyright policies (such as Reserves). These policies apply to all reproductions and facsimiles made for the express purpose of interlibrary loan.
