03:49pm EDT, 27 Mar 2014
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (March 27, 2014) — A SUNY Plattsburgh English undergraduate won Gale-Cengage Learning’s Digital Essay Contest for her paper, “True Victorian Womanhood and Manhood.”
Winner Stephanie Boutin, of Middle Granville, N.Y., earned a $250 prize for her work.
The contest was designed to encourage primary-source research and help students prepare for a digital future. It is the result of a partnership between SUNY and Gale — a publisher and provider of educational content and resources to academic libraries. Gale offered all 64 SUNY campuses access to its system during the fall 2013 semester.
Boutin’s is one of three prizes awarded to SUNY students: one for a graduate essay and two for undergraduate essays using either 18th Century Collections Online or 19th Century Collections Online — both databases offered by Gale.
