PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (April 19, 2017) — University Police Lt. Jessica Facteau and Susan Kenoyer, adjunct math lecturer, were honored by state Assemblyman Billy Jones as women of distinction at a recognition ceremony April 15 at City Hall, downtown Plattsburgh.
Jones has recognized seven women from the 115th Assembly District, which includes Clinton and Franklin counties and the towns of Brasher, Lawrence, Piercefield, and Hopkinton in St. Lawrence County. Throughout March, his office received nearly 100 nominations in honor of Women’s History Month.
“After careful review and much deliberation, I selected seven winners for six categories, with one category being shared by two constituents for their partnership in community service over the last 40 years,” Jones said.
Facteau was chosen in the law enforcement category while Kenoyer was chosen in the education category.
University Police Chief Jerry Lottie said, “University Police Lt. Jessica Facteau was an excellent choice for Assemblyman Jones’ ‘Woman of Distinction’ award for law enforcement. I am very proud to have Jessica as a member of our University Police team. This campus and community is very fortunate to have Jessica serving them.”
“Sue Kenoyer’s goal when teaching mathematics is for each student to have a deep, personal knowledge of the material,” said Department of Mathematics Chair Robert Keever. “She does this, as she has said, by getting to know the students, giving them a positive attitude toward the subject. In the end, students like math and are able to make it their own. And as a result, they invariably like and appreciate Ms. Kenoyer, too. She is very good at what she does.”
