Lake Champlain Research Institute logo Interdisciplinary Approach to Undergraduate Research

The primary objective of the Lake Champlain Research Institute (LCRI) is to promote undergraduate student research. Current affiliate activities include regional interdisciplinary investigations of biological, physical, economic, historical and educational issues.

The Institute is actively involved in research in the Lake Champlain Basin that results in a better understanding of regional natural resources and provides reliable scientific information to environmental decision makers.

Most Center faculty are affiliates of the Lake Champlain Research Institute (LCRI). The LCRI was established in 1997 as an interdisciplinary institute at Plattsburgh State to foster research in the Lake Champlain basin. The LCRI provides a 32' research vessel, water quality research laboratories, and hosts the NOAA Lake Champlain Sea Grant Program.
