The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Department works closely with the Facilities, Residence Life and Housing staffs at SUNY Plattsburgh to develop and submit an annual fire safety report to SUNY System Administration. This data is shared with the New York State Office of Fire Protection and Control (OFPC) for their review and comments.
The information in the SUNY Annual Fire Safety Report describes the overall organization and management of the fire safety activities on the campus. The report conforms to the format provided by SUNY System Administration, including changes which are made periodically to the structure and content of the report.
Future Federal fire safety reporting requirements are currently being developed to address the U.S. Department of Education negotiated rulemaking for the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), which was enacted August 14, 2008. Additional coordination with SUNY System Administration and the NYS Office of Fire Protection and Control (OFPC) may take place after the Federal rulemaking is completed.
EHS Office prepares the SUNY Annual Fire Safety Report each year with an electronic copy posted at this web site.
