The privilege of using alcoholic beverages is governed by state law and college policy as detailed in the Student Conduct Manual (Section 3: Alcohol.) Irresponsible and/or illegal use of alcoholic beverages and/or the resulting inappropriate behavior is strictly prohibited.
The State University of New York requires each campus to maintain regulations forbidding the use of narcotic and dangerous drugs.
SUNY Plattsburgh complies by including its policy in the Student Conduct Manual (see Section 7: Drugs).
Further, the college's policy on alcohol and dangerous drug use/abuse is described in the Campus Handbook, Section IV - Employment and Benefits.
The college periodically provides drug and alcohol awareness programs. Dissemination of pertinent information will continue to occur for all members of the campus community.
Confidential counseling and referral for treatment for alcohol and drug maladies is available to students and employees through Counseling Services and the Employee Assistance Program.
