Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center Staff - Taher Zandi, Ph.D.
Clinical Neuropsychologist, Director
Taher Zandi, Ph.D. is a State University of New York Distinguished Service Professor of Psychology and is on the faculty of the Psychology Department at SUNY Plattsburgh. He is the Director of the Northeastern New York Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center and the Center for Intergenerational Studies and Programs at SUNY Plattsburgh. Dr. Zandi received his Ph.D. in 1982 from the University of Oklahoma and his Post-Doctoral in Behavioral Neurology at Emory University in Atlanta, where he was a visiting Associate Professor of Neurology. Later he completed a research fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. Dr. Zandi has published and presented more than 250 articles. He practices neuropsychology at the Mood and Memory Clinic.
As the Director of the Center for Intergenerational Studies and Programs, CISP, Dr. Zandi oversees the operation of several programs and services that the campus delivers to the local community. These include: The Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center, Eastern Adirondack Health Care Network; a TRAID project which provides information on assistive technology devices and has a lending library; and the Third Age Adult Day Center that provides respite for caregivers of elderly individuals with dementia or developmental disabilities.
