The CTE Task Force members (photo left) work as peer consultants on behalf of CTE. They communicate with and advise faculty about the many resources that are available to improve teaching.

Join the Conversation!

Within the pages of this website there are many pieces of advice on how to improve teaching effectiveness.

You'll find plans for course development, techniques for assessment, forms to systematize course portfolio development, ideas for improving student participation, and so on.

These are all good and helpful tools, which if used conscientiously, will improve the effectiveness of any faculty member's teaching.

An Art and a Gift

But at the beginning and end of every day, one thing should be perfectly clear to us: it is, as Sam Pickering writes, "that teaching is both an art and a gift."

It is in appreciation of this truth that I welcome you to site of the SUNY Plattsburgh Center for Teaching Excellence and invite you to take part in an evolving conversation about what we can all do to nourish and sustain excellent teaching.
