Alternative Breaks Program
Getting Involved and Giving Back
The Alternative Breaks Program challenges students to participate in an extended and intensive service experience during the college's winter or spring breaks.
These experiential learning opportunities help students develop a sense of personal identity and community, as well as an understanding of important societal issues, while helping other who are in need of assistance.
Each trip provides the opportunity to meet new people, visit new places, and learn new skills.
Sites for the 2007 programs included:
- Habitat for Humanity in Jackson, TN; Bridgeport, CT; Greensboro, GA; Georgetown, SC
- Headstart Preschool Program in Bridgeton, NJ
- Student Conservation Association in Mt. Rogers, VA
- Shack Neighborhood House in Pursglove, WV
- Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association in Grantville, PA
