AmericorpsCreated in 1993, AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs designed to meet needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. Peace CorpsIn 1961, President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps to promote world peace and friendship. Peace Corps volunteers currently serve in 72 countries and work in areas such as education, health & HIV/AIDS, business, agriculture, youth, and community development. City YearCity Year was founded in 1988 with the belief that young people in service could be a powerful resource for addressing society's most pressing issues. During their 10-month service program, City Year corps members work in areas such as education, youth development, mentoring, and diversity. Learn more. |
Teach For AmericaFounded in 1990, Teach for America members commit two years to teaching in low-income rural and urban communities where they strive to attain dramatic academic gains for their students. Their vision is that one day, all children in the United States will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education.
