- About Plattsburgh
Hi, my name is Elizabeth Ann Dumont (all the students call me Betty Ann). I am the Secretary for Student Support Services and have been in this position since fall of 1990. This has been by far my most interesting position. Working with and getting to know the students is truly a loving and educational experience. I see them come in as young, nervous freshmen who lack confidence, and leave four years later with their heads held high and ready to take on the world, change it, and make it a better place. What more can you ask for?
Hometown: Verdun, Quebec, Canada
Professional/Personal Biography: I am a graduate of Williamson's Business College and have worked in several positions over the years. I met and married a young man from Plattsburgh and had two boys, one of whom graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh. After the children were grown, I worked part time for Plattsburgh State in various offices, all of which I enjoyed because of the warm atmosphere and caring people. I was offered the position at Student Support Services and what a privilege. Working in a caring office where everyone has one goal in mind - to help all of our students succeed academically and socially. This is what I call a great experience.
Favorite SUNY Plattsburgh Activities: Women's and Men's Hockey, Soccer and other sports. I like the activities that we have for the students, like making and delivering valentines for the senior citizens at the CVPH Medical Center. Yearly trips to Rulf's Orchard and other cultural activities allow us to get to know our students on a personal level.
Best advice you would give someone regarding college: Listen! Know that it is not a good idea to put things off until tomorrow. If a project is due, do it, then you can relax a little.
