Trouble Reporting Procedures

We rely on your assistance in keeping our facilities clean and running smoothly. To that end, we ask that you follow the procedures outlined below and report any malfunctions or problems you discover with our facilities

Non-urgent problems

You can continue your class in spite of the hardware/software failure.

Take advantage of our easy to use Trouble Report icon. This icon is on the desktop of every teaching station in every computer and smart classroom. Simply double click the icon, select the room from the drop down list (i.e. Redcay 109). In the next box, enter the number of the machine that is not working (i.e. 14V). The number of each machine is located on both the cpu and the monitor in the lower left corner and the upper left corner respectively. If the problem is with the teaching station, type TS instead of a number. In the next box, type in the most detailed description of the problem as possible. For instance "disk drive does not seem to read disks, tried 3 different disks," or "machine cannot print to the laser, gets an error saying 'printer not available.'" The problem description does not need to be long or elaborate; just include the information you feel is pertinent.

Urgent problems

Hardware/software your class depends upon fails to work properly.

We have recently installed phones in all of the computer and smart classrooms. Each phone is programmed for your convenience. If the projector or the Teaching Station will not turn on, that could be an emergency. When such a problem arises, review the documentation provided for quick tips; if this does not help you, please dial our emergency contact number (#31). This programmed number is on a label on each phone. The number will only work from the phone in the classroom, it will not work from the phone in your office; please call from the room. We have students answering this line from 8am to 11pm during the semester. These students know how to contact the technicians immediately and get them to the room so your class can continue.

Questions

If you have questions about getting additional resources in the classroom, or you have difficulty with hardware/software, or other concerns about the teaching facility feel free to contact Carol Bleaux or Alyssa McGovern.
