What current immigration changes are effecting our students? Come get the straight facts and discuss the impact our international student population brings to campus.

The Breakfast Club
Date: Monday March, 27, 2017
Time: 9a,-10am
Location: Outside of Tim Hortons
The concept of The Breakfast Club (TBC) is to periodically gather members of the faculty/staff for a discussion of a poignant or classic academic/pop culture article to consider varying realities of diversity & social justice. The discussion of the article often has the article being placed and unpacked in various contexts from differing perspectives. Our goal for TBC is to share perspectives on the intricacies within these readings as well as build community by creating another socio-intellectual space where different people can come together.
We ask that you come prepared to discuss the article by bringing two quotes from the article that really got your attention. Please e-mail Jennifer Matott at pett6852@plattsburgh.edu to receive the article "The Complexity of Identity" by Beverly Daniel Tatum

Brown Bag Lunch: "Embracing Otherness"
Featuring: Nick Dubay Community Outreach Coordinator from NAMI & Valeri Raugi from Plattsburgh High School
When: Thursday April 27th from 12:00-1:00 PM
Where: 6th Floor Conference Room
Description: In our "modern" work places and communities we are encouraged to not notice the differences (or Otherness) in people. At what point is it "Okay" to point out differences and have a discussion? Is it wrong to assume that everyone is like you? How can we embrace our "otherness" and live together in a safe and loving community?
