Friday, September 23


Registration 4 – 7 pm

Angell College Center Lobby

Check in if you haven’t registered online and pick up any reserved tickets. We will also have directions to some local attractions, as well as some self-guided tour materials.


Welcome Reception 5:30-6:30 pm

Winkel Sculpture Court, Myers Fine Arts

Families are cordially invited to start their weekend off by joining College President John Ettling and members of the Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society at this welcoming reception.


Gospel Choir Performance 6:30 pm

Amite Plaza, Angell College Center

The Gospel Choir, one of the largest groups on campus, will be performing a selection of energetic and inspiring tunes.  Rain location will be Burghy's


Late Night Weekends: Friday Night Presents BINGO 9 pm

Flynt Commons, Angell College Center

The Inter Sorority Association invites you to their FREE Pancake Breakfast. Donations for St. Jude Children’s Hospital are welcomed!


3-Mile Fun Run and Walk 9:30 am

Student Health Center Parking Lot

The Center for Student Health & Psychological Services is sponsoring a fun run/walk with the emphasis on FUN! Prizes will be awarded to winners in running and walking categories. Signup begins at 9 AM in the lobby of the Student Health Center.


Free Flu Shots 11:30AM-1PM

Student Health Center

Parents, make sure your student gets their flu shot this year! To encourage this, the Student Health Center will be offering FREE flu shots for students. So, before heading out for the day, bring them over and help your student stay healthy this year. Sorry, but these are only for SUNY Plattsburgh students.


Ice Skating 3 – 4 pm

Limited free skate rentals—all sizes.


Phi Eta Sigma Induction Ceremony 5 pm

Angell College Center Cardinal Lounge

Inductees, families, and friends are invited to celebrate their initiation into the Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Honor Society.


Dueling Pianos 8 pm

Angell College Center Ballrooms

After dinner, kick off your evening with an amazing dueling pianos performance presented by 176 Keys. Dueling pianos are a unique form of entertainment – music, comedy, and audience interaction mixed into one. You are sure to have a great time at this high-energy show! Enjoy a complimentary dessert buffet.


Late Night Weekends: Saturday Night Presents Board Games 10 pm

Presidents’ Lakeside Breakfast Buffet 10 am

Valcour Educational Conference Center

Before heading home, join us for a delicious breakfast buffet on the scenic shores of Lake Champlain, overlooking historic Valcour Island, site of the first major naval engagement of the American Revolution. Breakfast will be hosted by College President John Ettling and Student Association President Kevin Clayton, with special musical accompaniment from several talented students. Advance reservations required – space is limited!


Tours on Your Own

For families who want to explore the area and build your own itinerary, here are some ideas of things to do in Plattsburgh:

Adventure Seekers

For those who enjoy a little adventure, here are a couple of suggestions.

  • Rent a kayak or canoe and check out Lake Champlain, the AuSable River, or one of many smaller lakes and ponds in the area.
  • Bring a picnic lunch and walk the trails along Lake Champlain at Point au Roche State Park.
  • Hike a mountain. Here are some suggestions.


 For History Lovers

  • The Plattsburgh area is filled with historical monuments and museums. Some places to check out include:

  • Battle of Plattsburgh Museum
  • Champlain Valley Transportation Museum
  • Kent-Delord House
  • War of 1812 Museum

Lake Placid/Olympic Venues

  • Lake Placid is only about an hour from campus and is a fun day trip.
  • The main street along Mirror Lake features shopping and restaurants. More information can be found at
  • Winter Olympic venues from 1932 and 1980 can be found in the main part of town and around the outskirts. Take a gondola ride up Whiteface Mountain, visit the ski jumps, or pose for pictures with your family on the Olympic podium. More information can be found at


Tastes of the North Country

If you enjoy trying new foods, here are some suggestions for places to visit while you’re in Plattsburgh. Michigans, poutine, and cider donuts are some local favorites!


Apples, local produce, fresh cider, and homemade baked goods are among the highlights of several local orchards.





If you’ve never tried a Michigan, this is a “must” in your Plattsburgh visit. Everyone has their favorite Michigan stand so you should plan to visit several for the full experience!
