Homecoming 2007
A special luncheon for alumni of fraternities and sororities was held during Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at noon in the Angell College Center Cardinal Lounge with more than 75 alumni, students, and faculty/staff in attendance.
The luncheon featured a special program from SUNY-Plattsburgh alumni members who have worked professionally in the field of fraternity/sorority advising or higher education about trends in these organizations across the nation. In addition, a panel of current undergraduate leaders discussed their experiences as members of the current Plattsburgh State fraternity/sorority community.
During the awards portion of the luncheon, the following awards were given: Most Outstanding Fraternal Organization: Pi Alpha Nu Fraternity; Most Improved Fraternal Organization: Theta Alpha Lambda Sorority; Fraternal Alumni Commitment Awards: Edward Engelbride, Ed Lenane (Alpha Sigma Phi) & Mary Ellen Gillespie (Alpha Phi).
Alumni Relations Committee
The Center for Fraternity/Sorority Life is currently seeking volunteers (both collegiate and alumni) to serve on a committee to develop a plan to improve relationships and positive interaction between fraternities and sororities and their alumni. You do not have to live in the Plattsburgh vicinity to serve on this committee. The meetings will be conducted via conference call. Those interested should contact Allison Swick-Duttine, Director of Fraternity/Sorority Life, at allison.swick@plattsburgh.edu . The deadline to sign up is February 1, 2008.
Update Your Contact Information
Many fraternities and sororities are making an effort to update their alumni records; however, a lot of the contact information they have is no longer accurate. The best way to help these groups maintain accurate records is to make sure addresses phone numbers and emails are updated as necessary with the SUNY-Plattsburgh Office of Alumni Relations. This office can be reached at (518) 564-2090 or at alumni@plattsburgh.edu . Alumni are encouraged to also update contact information with their inter/national headquarters.
