SUNY Plattsburgh Chapter Accreditation Program Incentives
Five Star Chapter Incentives:
- Chapters will receive $1,000 placed in a College Auxiliary Services account to be used for chapter programming and fees.
- Chapter will receive a scholarship for registration and travel to the following summer’s Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI) to be awarded to a chapter member (worth $700+ each).
- Chapter banner displayed at a higher tier in the Angell College Center over the sign designating them as five-star chapters.
- Chapter commemorated as a Chapter of Excellence during Fraternity/Sorority Homecoming Alumni presentation. Plaque hung in the Fraternity/Sorority display case.
- Chapter recognition during Fraternity/Sorority 101 sessions, in publications and on the Fraternity/Sorority Life display board during New Student Orientation.
- Chapter will be permitted to decorate the Fraternity/Sorority Bulletin Board in the Angell College Center with their chapter information. Display will remain for 30-90 days (depending on the number of Five-Star Chapters).
- Chapter will have the ability to advertise individual recruitment events on Cardinal Cable.
- A press packet will be sent about Five-Star Chapters including the following:
- Press Release sent to Institutional Advancement, who will release the information to local media for possible articles in The Press-Republican and The Cardinal Points.
- Chapters highlighted in ad on Cardinal Cable.
- Chapters highlighted on electronic billboard outside of the Angell College Center.
- Chapters will be highlighted in a newsletter to all faculty and staff.
- Chapters will be highlighted in a newsletter all fraternity/sorority families.
- Chapters highlighted in flyers posted at the beginning of each semester.
- Five Star chapters whose new members maintain or improve their GPAs the semester they pledge for both the Fall and Spring semesters and who have made their new member education programs public documents, will be permitted to pledge first semester freshmen the following semester.
- GPA Requirement Waiver of 2.3 available to five-star chapters, pending approval from parents/guardians upon review of chapter statistical information.
- Ability to order and wear organizational honor stoles at graduation (chapter members are responsible for purchasing the stoles.)
Moving from Three to Four Star Chapter Incentives:
Chapters who move from 3-Star to 4-Star will be able to pick one of the following incentives:
- Chapter Officers Dinner up to $100
- Special Event Photographer up to $100
- $100 Towards Composite
- $100 Towards Philanthropy
- $100 Towards Campus Dining Services Orders
- Payment of Ropes Course fees at Twin Valleys Outdoor Education Center
Chapter must submit a receipt for payment to be issued. If the receipts are not turned in by the last day of classes during the Spring semester, the money is forfeited.
All Chapters who Achieve a Minimum of Three-Stars or Higher Will be Considered "Accredited Chapters".
Distinguished Fraternal Organization Award
- The fraternity or sorority selected from five-star chapters will be named the Distinguished Fraternal Organization and will receive $1,500 placed in a College Auxiliary Services Account to be used for chapter programming or insurance payment. (The total payment to this chapter would be $2,500 for achieving five-star status and for receiving this award.)
Most Improved Chapter
- The fraternity or sorority to make the greatest improvements from one year to the next will be given money in a College Auxiliary Service account for chapter programming or insurance payment. The amount of the check will be determined as follows:
- improving by one star = $1.000
- improving by two stars = $1,250
- improving by three or more stars = $1,500
All of the above incentives will be reviewed by the Committee on Fraternal Affairs on an annual basis for continuation of privileges. Use of incentives must adhere to the policies of the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh, the Interfraternity Council/Inter-Sorority Association and the Inter/National Organization, if applicable. Failure to abide by these policies may result in revocation of incentives.
